Lancia並非第一次使用法拉利引擎，Thema之前有驚世駭俗的Stratos，便是採用法拉利 Dino的V6引擎。可是，8.32很不同，它是四門房車，底盤是Fiat集團與紳寶Saab合作製造的，原意是給四間車廠各自再發展前輪帶動四門房車，它們分別是Fiat Croma、Alfa Romeo 164、Saab 9000和Lancia Thema。作為前驅布局的底盤，再加上是四門房車的造型，Lancia替這副著名V8做了一些改動，令它既有美式肌肉車那種雄厚扭力及聲調，但當引擎去到高轉速，又有法拉利引擎的勇猛。前驅V8引擎四門房車，像風馬牛不相及的三件事走在一起，效果卻是十分有趣。
